1. "Ignorance of the law excuses no one." Unfamiliarity with the law doesn't protect you.

2. "Justice delayed is justice denied." If legal redress is available for a wrong, but is not forthcoming in a timely fashion, it is effectively the same as having no remedy at all.

3. "Innocent until proven guilty." This is the principle that a person is considered innocent until proven guilty.

4. "Hearsay evidence is not admissible." Hearsay evidence refers to any statement that is not made by a witness while testifying in court.

5. "A man's home is his castle." This means that a person's home is theirs to do with as they please, and they should be free from interference by others.

6. "All men are equal before the law." No one is above the law and we are all subject to the same laws and legal consequences.

7. "Possession is ninetenths of the law." If someone has physical possession of something, it is easier for them to prove ownership.

8. "The punishment should fit the crime." This means that the punishment should be commensurate with the severity of the crime.

9. "Let justice be done though the heavens fall." Even if something catastrophic occurs, justice must be done fairly and impartially.

10. "The law is an ass." This phrase means that sometimes the law is unfair or unreasonable, and needs to be reformed.
